Francie van Zijl
Stellenbosch University Residence 

Huis Francie is the home of 300 young, vibrant female students who aspire to be healthcare professionals. Huis Francie van Zijl was the very first residence on Tygerberg campus and opened its doors on the 22nd of July 1968 as a men's residence. It was the very first building  and is therefore the oldest building on campus. The residence was named after the first Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Stellenbosch and well-known surgeon - Prof Francie du Toit van Zijl.
